Risk Flags
6- Age Concerns
At 35 years old and coming off a serious knee injury that cut his 2024 season short, Hill's athleticism and swiss army knife value — the entire basis of his fantasy upside — is critically diminished. His 2025 usage (9% target share, 3.2 PPG) confirms the role has already eroded.
- Retirement Uncertainty
Hill is in the final year of his contract expiring at the start of the new league year in March, and if he decides to continue playing in 2026, the Saints would need to negotiate a new deal to keep him. In December, Hill insinuated he would be open to playing again in 2026, but noted that everything isn't in his control.
- Injury Concerns
Hill started the 2025 season on the reserve/PUP list after rehabbing a torn ACL suffered in December 2024, and ended the 2025 campaign with an injury, leaving late in the Week 18 loss to Atlanta with a right shoulder issue. He's now played just 21 regular-season games over the last two years.
- Target Volume
Across eight appearances in 2025, Hill accrued 33 carries for 71 yards and one touchdown to go along with four catches for 23 yards, and it seems unlikely that he'll become a significant piece of what has been a struggling Saints offense. The Saints have Juwan Johnson as their primary pass-catching tight end and need a primary blocking tight end.
- Depth Chart
The Saints signed Noah Fant (2yr/$8.75M) as a traditional pass-catching TE, then drafted Oscar Delp (R3, #73 overall, Georgia) as a versatile blocker/receiver. With Juwan Johnson already the lead pass-catcher at the position, Hill's gadget role has been structurally carved out and redistributed at multiple levels.
- Retirement Risk
Saints GM Mickey Loomis confirmed active retirement conversations post-2025 season. Hill was visibly emotional after his final home game and has stated publicly he would only suit up for New Orleans — making his NFL future binary: Saints return or retirement.
