Roman Hemby

Hemby was cut from Las Vegas's 53-man roster on August 30, 2026 and retained only on the practice squad, after a preseason that produced just 11 carries for 38 yards and three catches for 22 yards.

Veteran Dare Ogunbowale sits on the same practice squad, and the Raiders added a same-position rookie, Mike Washington Jr., in the fourth round of the 2026 draft, so multiple backs compete for any touches that open up behind Ashton Jeanty.

Starter Ashton Jeanty's injury has kept a promotion path open; if it lingers into the regular season, Hemby is one of two practice-squad backs positioned for an early-season call-up.

Beat-writer scouting on Hemby has flagged his size and physicality as a fit for complementary early-down or short-yardage work, though that profile hasn't yet shown up in preseason production.
