Max Klare

The Rams now carry five tight ends including two back-to-back 2nd-round picks in Terrance Ferguson (2025) and Klare (2026), plus veterans Parkinson, Higbee, and Allen. Meaningful snaps and targets in Year 1 will be extremely difficult to earn in this environment.

Terrance Ferguson (value: 2619) is the established young TE in LA after his 2025 rookie campaign and profiles differently as a vertical threat (17.6 aDOT) versus Klare's intermediate/underneath role. While roles can co-exist, snap allocation between the two young TEs will be contested and one likely caps the other's ceiling.

The Rams drafted Ty Simpson 13th overall as Matthew Stafford's succession plan, and Stafford's age and contract situation remain uncertain. A mid-development QB transition could disrupt the elite passing context (NFL-leading 46 TDs in 2025) that makes this landing spot appealing for Klare.

Even if Klare wins TE snaps, target competition is brutal: Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and Kyren Williams dominate the McVay target tree, capping rookie-TE upside regardless of talent.

McVay runs one of the NFL's most TE-friendly offenses, routinely deploying 3-TE sets and creating natural receiving lanes underneath. Klare's sub-8 aDOT intermediate route-running profile is a precise fit for McVay's Dalton Kincaid-type slot receiving role, and the Rams invested 2nd-round capital here for a reason.

Tyler Higbee is aging and Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen are on shorter-term deals. As veteran TEs cycle out of the room within the next 1-2 years, the path toward a meaningful 50-65 target role opens for Klare alongside or ahead of Ferguson.

2nd-round capital (R2 P29) signals genuine investment; Klare was DLF's TE2 in consensus rookie rankings (~19 overall), with a Zach Ertz comp for his route nuance and frame.

Young TE (22) — still in value appreciation phase

Stafford led the NFL with 46 TDs and 4,707 passing yards in 2025 alongside Nacua and the newly added Davante Adams. The overall target pool is enormous, meaning even a complementary TE role in this offense can generate real fantasy relevance once Klare earns consistent snaps.
