Malik Willis

FLEX

Malik Willis's recent rushing volume signals a unique upside, but his inconsistent usage and new team context limit his ceiling as a QB21.

Role & volume

Willis averaged a 53% carry share in two of his last four games, indicating he can be a significant rushing threat when given the opportunity.

Projected role

Despite joining MIA and competing with Kyle McCord for snaps, Willis's recent high-volume rushing roles suggest he could still see substantial carries as a backup QB or in specific game scripts.

Range (floor–ceiling)

His floor is low due to inconsistent passing volume and new team integration challenges, while his ceiling remains modest at QB21 levels, driven by rushing upside rather than consistent passing production.

Risk & Opportunity Analysis (4 flags)

Risk Flags

Experience Concerns
Willis enters 2026 with only a handful of career starts prior to winning the Dolphins' job, among the least proven Week 1 starters in the league, leaving limited evidence he can sustain the role over a full season.
QB Rushing Wear
His fantasy production leans heavily on a dual-threat rushing role — the same role that coincided with shoulder and hamstring injuries late in 2025 — raising durability risk relative to pocket passers even though no games were missed.
Draft Capital Risk
Miami added no quarterback in the 2026 draft, but the bridge-QB framing persists; a disappointing season could prompt the franchise to pursue rookie QB capital as soon as the 2027 draft.

Opportunity Flags

Draft Capital
Miami directed its entire 2026 draft capital at pass-catchers (three receivers, two tight ends) rather than a quarterback, signaling intent to build the passing offense around him for at least this season.
