Risk Flags
6- Depth Chart
Post-draft NYG WR projections list Nabers, Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin, Malachi Fields, and Olszewski ahead of Hodgins — he does not appear in any published top-six. Despite his re-signing, he is a strong cut candidate at final 53-man cutdowns.
- Target Volume
Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson are both on IR, but Hodgins sits second on the depth chart behind Darius Slayton. When healthy, Nabers had a 35% target share and was a top-30 fantasy scorer in 13 of 15 games, leaving limited opportunity for secondary receivers.
- Free Agency Uncertainty
Hodgins is a free agent in 2026 after his reserve/future contract expired, and reports suggest the Giants are not expected to re-sign him. With minimal production in 2025 (10 catches, 115 yards, 1 TD in 7 games), his market value is extremely limited.
- Draft Capital
The Giants traded up to select Malachi Fields (Notre Dame, 6'4"/218) in R3/No.74, a big-bodied boundary receiver who directly occupies the same role profile as Hodgins. The Giants gave significant draft capital to acquire Fields, signaling long-term commitment to him over Hodgins.
- Usage & Volume
Across his last 4 tracked games, Hodgins averaged only 4–7% target share despite near-full snap share, generating 1.15 PPG. High snaps with near-zero targets is a blocking/depth role, not a fantasy-relevant one.
- Roster Security
On a one-year minimum deal, Hodgins must win a 53-man spot against Mooney, Austin III, Fields, Slayton, Hyatt, Olszewski and others — a genuine cut/practice-squad candidate in training camp.
