Minshew is firmly entrenched as Patrick Mahomes' backup with no realistic path to significant playing time barring injury. At 29.7 years old, he's unlikely to be part of KC's long-term QB plans.

Minshew suffered a non-displaced tibial plateau fracture in Week 16 after being named the starter, with reports indicating he 'likely' endured a torn ACL. This devastating injury severely impacts his value going forward and creates long-term uncertainty.

Minshew is set to be a free agent in 2026 after signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs. With a major injury history limiting his appeal, presuming further tests confirm an ACL tear, Minshew's value for 2026 will obviously take a serious hit.

Minshew's dynasty value has a hard cap — even if he wins an Arizona starting job, he is a one-season rental at 29-30 with no multi-year dynasty outlook. He should be treated as a pure streaming asset, not a hold.

Arizona used a 3rd-round pick on Carson Beck (Miami), installing a developmental franchise QB in the same room. Beck's presence signals the organization's long-term direction, capping any Minshew upside and threatening his roster spot as Beck develops.

Arizona has publicly framed Brissett vs. Minshew as an open competition. Minshew is an experienced NFL starter with playoff experience; if Brissett stumbles or holds out, the job is genuinely available before Beck is ready.
