Cam Skattebo

Skattebo suffered a catastrophic open right-ankle dislocation with a fibula/tibia fracture and ruptured deltoid ligament on Oct 26, 2025, ending his rookie year and requiring emergency surgery. He participated in June minicamp drills and expects to be Week 1 ready, but reports describe rehab as slower than anticipated and he is still ~2-3 weeks from feeling fully himself — a serious recovery to monitor through camp.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. remains a capable change-of-pace back who will warrant meaningful touches, and Devin Singletary adds veteran depth, which could cap Skattebo's ceiling if New York leans committee rather than bell-cow.

Skattebo projects as the clear RB1 with no running back added in the 2026 draft (R3 pick was WR Malachi Fields), leaving his path to volume intact. ESPN's Mike Clay projects ~250 carries for 1,049 yards and 7 TDs, positioning him as the Giants' first 1,000-yard rusher since Saquon Barkley in 2022.
